[ open ] Welcome to Chile, Cadets.

Characters: ALL.
Location: Valparaíso Shatterdome, Chile.
Date/Time: February 15th-28th.
Summary: The first shipment of recruits into the new Jaeger Academy program arrive. Some are staggered throughout the month, but they all have the same basic greeting. Here you are, there's where you sleep, here's what you wear, get going.
Additional Notes: See here for additional information. For information on the current weather, check out this link.

The Shatterdome didn't look futuristic, swatches of metal and concrete transforming a portion of the harbor into five enormous bays. Nevermind that only two were currently in use. The stark greys stand out against the colorful face of the city, a hulking monolith that's been carved into the face of the city that had once upon a century been termed the Jewel of the Pacific.

Note: Players are welcome to start their own interactions outside of the three main prompted scenarios. Go wild!

...Chuck doesn't really know if he should be offended or flattered. He sort of looks at her curiously when she comes up to him and really, it's hard to say no and be a bulldog (Max, down) when someone is asking for your autograph.

"Got something for me to sign?"

And he is not a sheepshagger, thank you very much.

Thinking quickly, Ngaio offers forth a pen and notebook issued for classes and flips to a blank page near the back. Having lost her phone to storage, she's commandeered one of the notebooks for personal notes as she explores the base (the opposite page has a doodled map of the base) - and evidently to get autographs in.

"It's for Rawiri, sir," she said, ready to spell it out if it looks like she'll need to. "Thank you, sir, he'll be stoked."

Chuck spells it out, just in case.

"R-a-w-i-r-i." He glances up at her, yeah -- cause that's a bit of a strange name.

"That right, yeah?"

karearea: (so what you wanna do?)

Ngaio nods, pleased. "People usually never get it right first try, sir - they try to chuck E's or Y's in there."

She considers herself lucky to have one of the more common names among her siblings, though it's still been subject to some creative spellings over the years.

Chuck grins at her.

"Well, 's not a very common name. Guess I could see that happening." Chuck's lucky. It's hard to fuck his name up.

"Here y'go." He's passing it back, pleased beyond words this just happened to him. She just made his day.

karearea: (let's do it)

Ngaio beams down at the autograph before shutting the notebook.

"Thank you, sir," she says again. "He's in for a shock. We didn't think youse would be stationed here."

She didn't keep up with the Ranger gossip as much as her brother did (and tended to tune him out), preferring instead to try and find out more about the Jumphawk pilots; she'd been expecting to encounter some of the South and Central American Rangers rather than Australasia's best defence.

(A second later, she realizes 'youse' might be too informal, but manages to keep her reaction to her smile going a little wobbly for a moment. Ugh, English needs korua.)
